A Special Invitation to Acton PIP to Participate in
Acton's Biodiversity Bonanza... When: Sunday, June 1, 2003 from 1 to 4pm Where: at the Acton Discovery Museum (177 Main St.) and the Great Hill Conservation area (off High St. behind S. Acton Fire Station) If you were a bird that ate insects from trees, what kind of beak would you have? Why are moose teeth different from shark teeth? How many species of animals will we find in Great Hill Pond? Bring your family and join the Acton Discovery Museum and Artemia Associates to celebrate Massachusetts' Biodiversity Days. This is the 4th year Acton has participated in the state-wide challenge to familiarize citizens with the wealth of animal and plant species in their communities. Activities include Quest hikes into the Great Hill Conservation Area, ponding explorations, environmental games, and special museum exhibits. This program is being generously developed by Artemia Associates, a local environmental education and consulting group. The group led a similar program for Acton PIP during the Acton Biodiversity Day celebration in 2002 and had an audience of approximately 200-250. Special Note: Volunteers are needed to help facilitate Biodiversity Bonanza activities. Recyclables are also needed for ponding tools including: yogurt containers, plastic peanut butter or jelly jars, 1\2 gallon milk jugs and old nylons. ****If you can help out with Biodiversity Bonanza event activities or have recyclables to donate, please contact Julia Miles asap by e-mail at julia@artemiaassociates.com or call her at (978)264-3185.**** Hope that you can participate in the Acton Biodiversity Bonanza on June 1 ...!
