AB PIP STEM Events, Grades K-6

 Math Games
Family Math Games
Family Math Game Night is an indoor, winter event. AB PIP STEM volunteers bring dominos and instructions for Domino Math games, Suduko and KENKEN. Domino Math games are a simple, inexpensive, fun way for students from 1st grade through high school to practice estimation skills and number facts. Younger children play addition and subtraction games; advanced students play multiplication and division games or experiment with equations. Appropriate for all grades, K-12. Each year, we include special activities like a Lego Activity Table and a vist from the AB Robotics Team.
Market Math
Market Math
Market Math
Every year, AB PIP STEM and Roche Bros. of Acton present two Market Math events at Roche Bros. Supermarket—one for 3rd graders and one for 5th graders. Both events feature an extravaganza of hands-on "super" market activities, complimented by samples, give-a-ways, and tons of fun. Market Math helps children better understand how classroom math concepts apply to the "real world." We welcome student volunteers who want to teach younger students and parent volunteers who want to supervise stations.
Star Party
 Star Party
Astronomy Star Party
The Star Party for 4th grade families is a March event that ties in with the 4th grade science curriculum. AB PIP STEM collaborates with Acton Under the Stars and the Acton Boxborough Regional Schools to bring 4th grade families a starry night. Top features include a visit with Galileo and stargazing with Amateur Telescope Makers of Boston (ATMoB). Acton Under the Stars also sponsors a town-wide Star Party. We welcome student volunteers who want to help younger students learn about astronomy.

 Nature Walks
Nature Walks
In the spring and fall, AB PIP STEM hosts nature walks for students in Grades K-6 accompanied by a parent. Siblings are welcome to this afternoon event with our guide, Tom Tidman from the Acton Natural Resources Department. Using the Acton, Naturally Guides, we find seasonal flora and fauna at one of the town's conservation areas, such as, the Acton Arboretum or Nara Park.
