Math and Science Kits for Take-out at C. T. Douglas Elementary

Shape and Strength Kit

In this kit you will test the strength of an egg, and explore inventive ways to protect eggs during shipping, and (uh oh) accidents. You also test the strength of common products found in your home.

Explore the Stars Kit

The activities in this kit help you learn about the stars through science and reading related activities. Learn interesting legends, as told by North American Indians, and then complete a series of activities, including making your own constellation viewer.

Drips and Drops Kit

Water is a daily resource that we take for granted. There are ways you can make changes in your behavior to use water with more awareness and care.

Explore Sounds and Smells

This science bag focuses on food - what's in it, where it comes from, how it tastes and smells, what happens when you measure, mix, pour, cook, and more! This book will spark your interest in learning more about food.

Explore Seeds

Like all fruits, cherries come from plant and contain seeds or pits. Seeds can be different sizes, shapes, and colors. The science activities in this kit allow you to explore how some seeds are the same or different. Predict the number and size of seeds in a variety of fruit, where the seeds are located, and more!

Hide and Seek

Many things are now what they seem to be. Colors of inks are like that. The activities in this kit will help you discover some things about the colors of common ink. During the activities, you will observe how colors move and separate on paper, try different liquids to separate colors in ink, and more.

Explore Ice Cream

Do you like ice cream? Do you know how ice cream is made? In this kit you will be learning about the process of a liquid changing to a solid and pretend that you are an "ice cream scientist". You will do some fun science experiments and then make your own ice cream!

Explore Popcorn

Popcorn kernels are the seeds of corn plants. In The Popcorn Book, twin brothers pop popcorn and observe how it changes. Moisture in the popcorn kernels helps it to pop. What happens if you try to pop dried kernels? Found out this answer and more by doing the science activities.

Air

Air is invisible and you seldom feel it, except in a strong wind. But air is all around you. This kit will give you a change to have some fun with science activities that involve air. You will even make a "Wonderwhirler"!

Explore Basic Tastes

Small bumps called taste buds on our tongues help us identify four basic tastes: sweet, salty, bitter, and sour. Different areas of the tongue are more sensitive to one basic taste than to the others. Your children will learn the areas of their tongues that are sensitive to each taste.
