STEM in the Community
Groton-Dunstable STEM - Groton-Dunstable Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (GDSTEM) is a volunteer organization of parents, educators, and community partners promoting Science, Technology, Engineering and Math education.
Their goal is to enhance the support of, and participation in, all STEM educational activities within the Groton-Dunstable grade K-12 community. The GDSTEM speaker series is free and open to the public. Check out their upcoming events on the GD STEM Announcements Page, Patents and Intellectual Property for the Budding Inventor, Engineer, or Scientist on
January 19, 2012 from
6:30pm - 9:00pm.
The Discovery Museums in Acton - The Discovery Museums, located in Acton, Massachusetts, just west of Boston, inspire enduring curiosity and love of learning through interactive discovery, hands-on inquiry and scientific investigations. Younger children learn while they play at the Children's Discovery Museum. Older children explore scientific concepts and hands-on creativity at the Science Discovery Museum. The Museums have extensive school programs which include museum field trips, group visits, and classroom outreach. See This Month's Events.
The Discovery Museums opened their doors for free every Friday night this summer, as part of our Free Friday Night Fun! program. Families don't often have the opportunity to enjoy museums at night, and free admission is a wonderful benefit. The program was met with great enthusiasm: they had between 400 and 700 people each Friday night. Free Friday Night Fun! was such a success that they have decided to continue it in the fall, offering one free Friday night per month for the remainder of the year.
